Accent on Nails

Updated July 2013: Accent on Nails is no longer offering Mobile Nail Treatment but they invite you to book an appointment at their salon in Kitsilano.

As soon as I wake up in the morning I think about my little one and start planning our day based on what actives we are doing. Usually going to our weekly mommy and me classes, play-school, play-dates, Science Center trips and more.

We are busy pretty much everyday and there is not really enough time in the day for me to go to a salon to get my nails done. Besides, I can’t imagine him sitting in a chair for almost an hour while I get them done.  Not possible.

That’s why I was super excited when I  found out that my favorite nail salon in Vancouver {Kits}, Accent on Nails, was now offering a mobile nail treatment service (Shellac Manicure and Pedicure) specially for busy moms.

The last time I went to the salon was before I got pregnant so getting my nails done in the comfort of my own home was amazing. A girl from the salon came to my home right after my little one went down for a nap and I got my nails and toenails beautifully done with Shellac Gel.

She was very friendly and professional (She has been doing my nails for years before I became a mom so it was nice to see her again after the looong break) and she brought all of her nail equipment with her. Including the new nail files that she uses for you only and then you get to keep at the end of the appointment. Love that!

All of her equipment was super clean and neat and my favorite thing was that the special Shellac gel she uses has no harsh odors or fumes. It looks like regular nail polish when applying but it doesn’t smell like nail polish.  It goes on top of your natural nail and it can last up to 4 weeks.

I just absolutely loved the look of my nails. I love having beautifully done nails without having to worry about peeling. My nails peel so fast when wearing regular nail polish so I usually have bare nails to avoid having to do them every other day.

So far it has been two weeks and after multiple showers, cooking, washing dishes, changing diapers, washing my hands many many times during the day, giving my little one baths and more my nails are still looking great and I have no peeling.

Something else I have to mention is that she is great with little ones. My son woke up after his nap and as he came out to say Hi! she was really good with him and made him laugh by making silly faces etc. I really love when people get along with my child and she was great and easy going.

If you are local and want to try her services be sure to mention discount code “OneSmiley” when booking your appointment for a $5 off discount on her mobile Shellac manicure/pedicure services of $80.

I find the $80 price range very reasonable for getting a Shellac mani/pedi at home considering that going to a salon means you have to pay for child care, gas, plus the regular non-mobile nail fee of $60.  Be sure to check out her website for more promotions and before and after photos of her nail services.

Note: There is a small fee added to her mobile service package depending on some locations (remote locations pay extra). Contact the salon for more details at 604-732-3117
