Good Riddance

I recently had a chance to read the book ‘Good Riddance: Showing Clutter the Door‘ by professional organizers Heather Knittel and Susan Borax and I must say I was surprised to find myself really enjoying a book about organizing!

Heather and Susan are both moms and they wrote Good Riddance  to help people like us get organized.

The book is about tossing things you don’t need, recycling, re-using and dealing with any attachment to items you may have while getting rid of  CRUD (completely ridiculous unworthy debris). Perfect for this time of the year and Spring cleaning.

Do you have a garage filled with stuff and boxes you have not opened in years? Does your little one have a huge box of toys that he/she doesn’t play with anymore?  Do you keep things you never use “just in case” ?   Then this is the book for you!

I love the book because it uses humour to tackle the not so fun things to do. It is also divided into structured chapters going room by room to help you with tips and ideas on how to organize and declutter each room.  It means it is easy to follow and get into action to start getting organized.

I used Chapter 10 “Bedlam” to help me organize my own room and I found it very helpful when deciding what to keep and what to toss. I am a purse-aholic so I needed to read the tips about thinning my collection (difficult but totally doable).

I love reading books that inspire me to make my home better and to get rid of what I don’t need. I really recommend you get a copy of  ‘Good Riddance: Showing Clutter the Door’ to get the extra motivation you need to get  each room in your home organized and get your Spring cleaning started.
