apple chips

I have two little boys who are constantly hungry and asking for snacks multiple times during the day. They are growing lots and healthy snacks are an important part of their diet.

After our eldest comes home from school in the afternoon I usually give the boys a snack and I try to make it healthy and nutritious. Below are some of the snacks that I often offer the boys to eat:

Fruits and Vegetables: Mandarin oranges, strawberries, grapes and melon slices are all easy to eat, delicious and the boys love them. I also cut some celery and cucumber slices for them.

We love apples and Martin’s Apple Chips make the best apple chip snack. These are fat free, gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, and vegan. Crunchy and fun for the boys to eat as well.

muffinsMini Muffins: I love baking mini muffins for the boys and I often have some in the fridge ready to eat. Our easy to make recipe of butter-free banana chocolate chip muffins is HERE.

Yogurt or Green Juice: Yogurt is an excellent source of calcium. I often give the boys some yogurt or make them a green juice with spinach, almond milk and frozen fruits.

Trail Mix: We usually mix some almonds, peanuts and raisins together and pack them in small containers for the boys. Easy to snack on and healthy for everyone.

Mini Sandwiches: Finger sandwiches are super easy to make and they make great snacks. The boys love peanut butter sandwiches or grilled cheese.
