If you have ever been on a ferry ride to Vancouver Island then you know how beautiful the scenery and marine wildlife are.  In “Sounds of the Ferry” through beautiful illustrations and rhyming pictures you will go on a sea journey into the world of a ferry with its humming engines, screeching seagulls and churning wake.

Sara Leach, author of “Sounds of the Ferry“, was born and raised in Vancouver and now lives in Whistler with her husband and two children. She is an author, teacher-librarian, business owner. volunteer and mom. She also has published a couple of other books and she has a novel for young readers that will be published in Fall 2011.
After a ferry ride to Vancouver island, Sara was struck by the different sounds on board. She noticed how kids enjoyed all aspects of the ferry ride, from boarding the ferry to activities indoor and out. She knew she had to write about those experiences and that’s how Sounds of the Ferry was born.
My son loves the beautiful and colorful illustrations (by Steven Corvelo) and enjoys when I read this book to him.  His favorite part is me reading all of the entertaining rhymes and making all of the sounds. It is like I am taking him on a trip with me into the ferry ride.  I love books where I get to make different sounds and show him something new.
I recommend this beautiful book for children young and old as they will all enjoy the rhymes and pictures.
