September is coming up, and the kids will be back in school in a week. In preparation for back to school, I am sharing three DK books that are a must have for your home library, and that will be a great complement to their school activities. Our six-year-old loves reading these books. They have lots of colorful images, and they are filled with super useful information.

Three Must Have Books for Back to School

  • Where on Earth? ATLAS:Β This atlas brings our amazing world to life in 3-D. With 3-D maps and artworks, it takes kids on a continent-by-continent tour of the world and even includes an introductory visual explanation of Earth’s evolution. Each continent is explored in great detail, with topic maps on major geographical features, cities and monuments, population, wildlife, and more. From the Great Lakes to the Great Barrier Reef, map keys add extra layers of information, and special fact sections support the data provided on the maps. So many details! The boys love flipping through the pages and finding the places we have been too.Β
  • Smithsonian – Human Body!: This visual encyclopedia includes amazing, 3-D graphics, offering a fascinating view of every part of the body from the skull to the heart and lungs to the joints and muscles, taking kids from head to toe. Supporting STEM education initiatives, all the body systems and structures are made easy to understand. Both the anatomy-how the body looks-and the physiology-how the body works-are visualized and explained with clear, engaging text, and the astonishing facts and figures.
  • Smithsonian – Science Year by Year: Β Packed with fascinating discoveries and facts, this visual reference takes kids on a fantastic journey through time, from stone tools and simple machines to space travel and robots. Easy-to-follow illustrated timelines of pivotal scientific developments explore the ideas, experiments, and technologies that have shaped our daily lives over the past 3 million years. With more than 1,200 images, in-depth explanations of key inventors and innovations,Β quotes from groundbreaking scientists like Marie Curie, and stunning “moment in time” images of key events such as the first human landing on the moon, kids are sure to be amazed on every page.
