The magic of the holiday season has arrived at the Vancouver Aquarium. Be sure to schedule a visit and enjoy the beautiful decorations, festive trees and and a special appearance by underwater Scuba Claus!

Here some reasons why you should visit the Vancouver Aquarium this winter:

The Polar Express, a multi-sensory 4-D theatre experience

Climb aboard The Polar Express, a multi-sensory 4-D theatre experience that takes you through mountains and hilltops to snow-covered plains, all on a beloved holiday train to the North Pole. Prepare to be wowed as this favourite festive film engages your senses through scent, sight, sound and touch.

Lots of fun for the kids. My 5-year-old loved it and we ended up watching the full film at home that same night!

Scuba Claus Dives

Who doesn’t love a visit from Santa Claus? With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Scuba Claus appears for daily dives in the Canada’s Arctic gallery with beluga whales Aurora and Qila, as well as dives in the Strait of Georgia exhibit. The kids were delighted to see Scuba Claus! (video from our own visit below).

Festive Decorations Including Electric Eel/Tree Exhibit

Don’t miss the holiday tree and its shimmering lights sparked by the resident electric eel.  Tofino-based artist Pete Clarkson also returns to Vancouver Aquarium to build a holiday marine debris tree. The towering tree is an impressive demonstration of trash becoming treasure. A must see for all!

Scuba Claus dives daily until December 24, with all other holiday displays at the Vancouver Aquarium continuing until January 3, 2016. Vancouver Aquarium is open 365 days a year, including statutory holidays. For more information, and dive schedules, please visit vanaqua.org.
