Having fun together as a couple plays an integral role in determining the strength of your relationship with your significant other. Going on couple outings where you can reconnect and spend time together is really important for the overall health of your relationship.

I am certainly not talking about extravagant outings like going to Vegas for the weekend or taking a vacation to the Caribbean, even though those are nice once in a while! It’s more about the little everyday things you do together. If you’re both having fun then that’s all that matters.

My husband and I both love photography and we really enjoy taking photos of nature and city landscapes. Living in Vancouver we have the opportunity to visit some pretty unique and beautiful spots to take photos such as Gastown, Stanley Park, Spanish Banks, Granville Island, Sunset Beach, Dr. Sun Yat Sen Gardens and one of our favourites: Queen Elizabeth Park.

One sunny afternoon we decided to pack our cameras and lenses and we drove to Queen Elizabeth Park to spend some time photographing the beautiful gardens at the park. One of our favourite spots in the park is the high point where you get a pretty spectacular view of downtown Vancouver and the mountains lining the North Shore. When the weather is clear, it is absolutely breathtaking.

We spent a few hours photographing the colourful flowers and insects and then took a break to have a small snack we had packed. We sat to eat, exchanged cameras and checked out the photographs the other captured.

Something that I love about going to take photos with my husband is when we both get to see what the other person captured after the shooting session. It is especially interesting to compare specific objects, scenes and subjects that we both captured but usually in different ways. The two different photos of the same flower above are an example of this.

Sharing a passion and doing something that we love together is my idea of the perfect date. I also love the idea of jumping in the car and driving to random locations to take photos together; following our passions keeps us happy together.

Now tell me, what’s YOUR most memorable couples outing?

What’s the right vehicle for your active lifestyle? It has to be large enough to handle your stuff, yet compact enough for easy maneuverability and excellent fuel efficiency – and with safety that gives you real peace of mind.
