I love books designed to help introduce kids to new concepts by making things fun and engaging. Learning while playing interactive games is the way to go. I recently received a selection of DK Books that help do just that.

Below I am sharing some of the books, why we are loving them and a link to purchase if you are interested:

♥ The Incredible Math Games Book

Kid-approved games that instil first math concepts. Roll the dice, move the counters, lift-the-flaps, and learn with this fun-filled, extra-cool math game book for children ages 6-9.

The amazing interactive paper engineering in The Incredible Math Games Book will capture and hold your child’s attention, making practising math and play one and the same. With games like Zip to Zero, Shape Stepper, Math Maze, Times Tables Tug-of-War and more, kids will learn key math concepts while having a blast. Everybody wins!

Our boys love playing board games with us, so this Math Games Book has been a hit in our home. Each page contains a different game for us to play with a new challenge. Perfect for our 8-year-old to get some math practice without even knowing it. All fun and games, literally!  We love it!

♥ Spanish-English Dictionary, French-English Dictionary, Chinese-English Dictionary.

Newly revised and updated, the visual dictionaries are a quick and intuitive way to learn and recall everyday words in a new language. Introducing a range of useful current vocabulary in thematic order, this dictionary uses full-colour photographs and artworks to display and label all the elements of everyday life-from the home and office to sport, music, nature, and the countries of the world-with panel features on key nouns, verbs, and useful phrases.

I love having a selection of visual dictionaries at home for the kids to flip through. Both boys are really enjoying going through these and learning new vocabulary. Lots of colours and photographs that make these appealing and fun to look at.

Available: From Jan 14th to the 20th, Indigo has a special sale on all DK Language Titles (including the mini dictionaries featured here). Visit Indigo for more details and to take advantage of the sale.

♥ Virtual Reality

A children’s book that explores the realities of virtual reality, explaining what VR is and how it works, and even includes an app download for five exclusive VR experiences and a cardboard viewer with stickers to make it your own.

Learn about the history of VR, from how it was invented to how it is used in the world today-beyond smartphone apps-and how VR headsets play with your senses of sight, sound, and touch to fool you into thinking you are somewhere else. Then use the included VR viewer and smartphone app download to come face-to-face with a T. rex, look inside a volcano, explore the Roman Colosseum, hop aboard the International Space Station, and peek under the surface of a pond.

This one has been fun for the boys to explore. My eldest built the VR viewer himself and then decorated it with the fun stickers included in the book. They both took turns exploring the virtual reality experiences and their favourites were the dinosaur exploration and the space station. Lots of great fun and a perfect introduction to VR technology in a safe way.
