sparkup

The Sparkup Magical Book Reader is a unique device designed for children (3-8 year’s old) that enables parents to create personalized audio recordings of ANY illustrated children’s paper book. Little ones can listen, read along and feel connected at any time.

We received a Sparkup to try and I love that it is super easy to use, the little device is impressive. It simply attaches to the top of the book you are recording/reading, then with a press of a button the Sparkup records the voice of whoever is reading the book while keeping track of each page via its built-in camera. Afterwards, any time the device is re-attached to that book, the camera recognizes its images and plays the appropriate recording for each page – while allowing the child to advance at his or her own pace, or even flip through the pages out of order

I think it is very important for children to spend time reading good old paper books, nowadays everything comes with a screen and children use eReaders, computers and TVs too much. Going back to simple books is the way to go! Recording the books with my son also allow us to spend some quality time together and I love hearing the books we have recorded and his cute commentary throughout the stories.

We love the Sparkup, we have already recorded about 8 books on it and our son enjoys hearing the stories again and again. Adding new books is super simple and you can start using it right out of the box, no need to connect to your computer to download anything or purchase special books.

The Sparkup is also great to take with you when traveling, no iPad or DVD needed anymore! By combining the compelling multimedia aspects of the Internet with traditional children’s literature and the voice of a loved one, Sparkup Magical Book Reader helps children learn to read (and love reading) even during those times when their parents are busy taking care of work or other chores. The Reader is available for purchase on Amazon or www.sparkupreader.com for $59.99.

And here is a little video of what the Sparkup sounds/looks like when playing a story I recorded for my son:
