HANDeBand

By Contributor Lisa Corriveau

Like a lot of moms of our generation, I have my smart phone in my hand at least half of my waking hours. I could be checking work emails, writing notes for a blog post, ordering groceries, updating my children’s weight in their growth charts, googling some point of trivia, taking a photo of one of my little darlings… I do a lot on my phone, clearly. I also drop it a lot, as I’m always trying to multitask while using it. Maybe I’m just a klutz, but I suspect I’m not the only one who drops her phone all the time. If you’re a butterfingers like me, I’ve got a solution for you: the HANDeBand. I’ve been testing one for a couple of weeks now and I really like it.

The HANDeBand is a simple stick-on loop that goes on the back of your phone. You can then ‘wear’ the phone on your finger while using it. The ring rotates 360 degrees, so it can be worn horizontally or vertically. This puts an end to awkward finger positions when trying to hold the phone while using the touch screen to snap a selfie. I’m much less likely to drop it while pushing a stroller or shopping cart. The grippy rubber finger ring sticks out of the back a bit, so when you want to slide your phone into a purse pocket or your jeans, you can remove this part, leaving just the flat bracket on the back of your phone.

I was initially a bit skeptical that the adhesive would stick to my phone, or rather the case on my phone. Because I drop my phone so much, I use a bomb-proof case on it, which has a slightly textured back. However, I’ve had no issues with the HANDeBand sticking–it seems very solid. When you upgrade to a new device, you can remove the adhesive and move the HANDeBand to your new phone—just contact the company and they’ll send you a new adhesive for free.

The HANDeBand comes in packs of one or two, in small, medium and large sizes. There are three styles: a collapsible band called the ‘Slide’, a single band and a double band for two fingers, both called the ‘Tactical’. I have a size large & find it fits my hands well, though it’s quite snug on my husband’s sturdy German fingers. As for colours, the HANDeBand comes in white, grey and black. HANDeBands retail for $23.95 for one up to $28.95 for a pair.
