Are you trying to get pregnant right now? I remember the waiting game and anxiety of hoping for my period to be late when trying for my boys. It can be scary at times and take a toll; I also remember going online to blogs and forums to ask lots of questions. There so many unknowns!

Below you’ll find a list with some Q&As that will be helpful as you become a mom. And remember that nine months go by fast and before you know it, you’ll be holding your sweet little one in your arms.

  1. What’s the best way to keep track of my menstrual cycle?  I remember using a First Response® Digital Ovulation Test when I was trying to get pregnant.  Ovulation tests help find your most fertile days based on your personal LH surge. Your two most fertile days begin with the LH surge, and you are most likely to get pregnant if you have intercourse within 24-36 hours after you detect your personal LH surge. Wondering what LH surge is?  Visit firstresponse.com for more info.
  1. How would I know if I am expecting?  Keep some First Response™ Early Result Pregnancy Test packages ready at home so you can test right away. With those tests, you can usually tell you if you’re pregnant up to six days before your missed period. I found out I was expecting both times BEFORE I missed my period.
  1. Midwives or Doctors? Once you see that little line in the test, you have to start thinking about who will care for you during your pregnancy. Pick the person who you feel most comfortable with and don’t let friends or family sway your decision.
  1. Packing a Hospital Bag. There are lots of websites online with great printable lists that you can use to help you decide what to bring to the hospital. Prepare ahead of time and don’t panic,   the most important things for you and baby will be provided at the hospital. Any extras are just that, extra things.
  1. How else can I prepare?  Try to relax and take some time for yourself! Unwind after a busy day with a good book and a cup of tea. Plan a weekend getaway with your partner ,curl up on the couch and watch your favorite movie. You’ll be busy when your baby arrives, and your pregnancy is the perfect time to rest before baby arrives.

Pro Tip: Talk to your Doctor about using OVOL™ Drops for baby and be sure to pick up a box to have ready before your little one arrives.  The drops are an alcohol-free solution that helps relieve discomfort caused by trapped gas in babies, making it easier for babies to pass gas and burp at feeding time.  Those were a lifesaver when my boys were infants. They had colic and suffered from gas and tummy pain, so we used these a lot.

Are you a first-time mom? Do you have a story about trying to conceive? I’d love to hear it.
