Our Menu choices:

Antipasti: Insalata Romana and Burrata Caprese.

Main Dish: The Osso Buco & Risotto Alla Milanese and Pappardelle “Rosche Rosche”

Dolci: Tiramisu

Vino: Nespolino Sangiovese/Merlot

To start off our meal, my date and I both had salads. We cannot say enough great things about the salads! The ingredients were obviously fresh and seasoned to perfection. The cheese is where it’s all at though. The Insalata Romana was generously covered in shaved pecorino and the Burrata was imported, as most Italian restaurants in Vancouver do. A great burrata is absolutely necessary and we think Robba Da Matti offers that. The sprinkling of pine nuts on the Insalata Romana was the right ratio. It added a nice extra crunch and texture to the salad.

For our mains, the fresh pasta really stood out. Homemade pasta with a light sauce has such a fulfilling flavour. I went with the Osso Buco to try something different and unique. The veal was tender and the entire portion was generous. The risotto had a balanced consistently, and properly cooked rice. I would definitely go back to try order some homemade pasta just for myself. Perhaps a traditional Spaghetti alla carbonara or the Pasta alla primavera. Simple, authentic yet delicious dishes. I do have it under good authority that Robba Da Matti’s Lobster and Crab ravioli is amazing and consistently delicious. Darn… I was considering that dish. Looks like I’ll have to plan another date night!

As for dessert, we both couldn’t resist a traditional tiramisu, also made in house. I’m not ashamed to tell you that both dishes were wiped clean. The coffee-soaked ladyfingers were rich in flavour accompanied with a velvety mascarpone cream.

The Date Night feature offers two wine choices, a red and a white. I highly recommend the 2017 Sangiovese/ Merlot. It is a medium bodied red with a smooth finish that goes well with rich pastas and cheeses.

You have the option of sitting on their heated patio and of course ordering other items off of their full menu. The restaurant is centrally located in Yaletown near the Yaletown-Roundhouse Skytrain Station. Overall, the Date Night promotion at Robba Da Matti is a great experience and a steal of a deal which runs all year long. Buon Appetito!
