I really like featuring companies that offer interactive products for children that make learning fun.  I also believe the best way for children to learn is when they are working on an activity they really enjoy.
School Zone offers a variety of fun workbooks, flash cards and software geared towards children from preschool to sixth grade.  Their products allow for parents to coach and get involved in the learning process, an integral part in any child’s education.
I received their Preschool On-Track Software set and their Lowercase Alphabet Workbook to feature and I must say I am impressed with both.  I can’t wait to continue using their products to help my child develop his skills.
Their Preschool On-Track Software (ages 3-4) features two CDs with Same or Different activities and Thinking Skills.  Children learn about comparing, sequencing, following simple directions, concentration, classifying, matching and more.    This is great to help set the foundation for learning numbers and math.
Something I really like about their software is that they keep track of the child’s progress and provide immediate feedback when an answer is incorrect, allowing for the child to think again and pick the correct answer.   There are a lot of fun animations and characters that would make any child’s learning time enjoyable and fun, plus lots of games and fun activities to keep it all interesting.

I like that you can play the CDs on Windows and Mac and you don’t need to purchase separately depending on your computer’s operational system.  There are many other companies that offer Windows only software and we can’t play them at home since we only own Macbooks.

Here is a little clip from School Zone that shows a bit more of how the software looks like once your child is working on the activities:

I also received the Lowercase Alphabet Workbook (ages 4-6) and I like that it is thin and easy to carry. I can imagine once our son is older taking the workbook with us on plane rides or to a restaurant to keep him entertained.
The book has fun and colorful illustrations,  each page has a letter of the alphabet (a-z) and finish the word exercises to go along.  I really like that the information is simple and not overwhelming and it looks like it would keep little ones entertained for hours.
I like that you can also get involved in the process by pronouncing the names of the objects and guiding through the exercises, making it fun for both parents and children.

In general I think both the Software and Workbook are great resources for parents and I recommend checking out the School Zone online store to see some of their other educational and fun products.  One of their workbooks or flashcard sets would make a wonderful holiday gift for a little one. There is nothing better than spending time with your child coaching and helping them acquire new skills.
