polish

I love to wear different coloured nail polish, and my daughter has recently started to notice that the colour on my nails changes from time to time. There is unfortunately one thing that my husband does not like about nail polish, the smell. The smell from nail polish is a good indicator that there are ingredients inside that little ones should not be exposed to. SuncoatGirl Water-Based Nail Polish is the perfect solution to dealing with the smell, and not exposing kids to different chemicals.

SuncoatGirl is water based, with up to 5 other ingredients. The nail polish has also been tested to ensure product safety for children; it was evaluated by board-certified toxicologists. What I also like is that this nail polish is Canadian made. Always nice to find a product that is made in the same country you live in.

I did find that the polish took a little getting used to for applying, but it does apply in the same way any nail polish does. Brush on and let dry. It is recommended to do thin coats, and depending on how deep the hue is you may need more coats. I found with the Strawberry Delight colour, I needed 3 to 4 thin coats to get the darkness I was looking for. I experimented with doing thicker coats, and it took much longer for the polish to completely dry, you are better off sticking the thin coats than risking your nails smudging later while drying. I was very impressed through that I could get such a strong shade from a water based product. There is no strong smell from this polish, so you do not have to worry about fumes that would normally happen from regular nail polish.

My favourite part about this product is how easily the polish comes off. Soak your nails in warm water, and you will notice the edges start to lift. All you have to do then is peel off the nail polish. I had no damage to my nail beds when doing this. My only note would be that if you paint your daughter’s nails and she has bath time every night you may notice her nail polish disappear much faster. That’s ok because then you can have another girly night and re-do your nails.

If you are looking for a child friendly nail polish option, give SuncoatGirl a try, they have lots of great colours to select from.
