The North Face Kids

I have been a fan of The North Face for many years. My husband and I have worn and used many of their jackets and outdoor apparel. Their products have a stellar reputation for quality , durability and style and we really love this brand.

We recently had an opportunity to visit their Kits store on West 4th to check out their recently revived Kids line. I didn’t really know that they carried a line for infants/toddlers and I was excited to see their new collection in person.

Their friendly and helpful store manager introduced us to their selection of products for infants, toddlers and boys/girls; including jackets, vests, shirts, pants, shorts, footwear and accessories. I was also interested to see their snowboarding and skiing suits, perfect for when we decide to take our son to the mountains.

Upon browsing through their toddler collection we fell in love with their Toddler Nimbostratus Triclimate® Jacket. The Nimbostratus is a three-in-one snowsports jacket. It combines a waterproof, breathable, fully seam sealed HyVent® exterior jacket with a removable, fleece liner jacket.

I love that this jacket is very versatile and each layer can be worn separately depending on the weather. I think that having the option to easily integrate these layers is important in a city like Vancouver with unpredictable weather and also to help deal with the pickiness of toddlers.

The Nimbostratus Jacket is available in sizes 2T to 4T and features a fixed hood, zip handwarmer pockets and grow cuffs at the sleeves. It also has a chin-guard flat that protects my son’s delicate skin when zipping his jacket.

The North Face Jacket

It is a minor feature but I do appreciate the fact that the jacket has an ID label as well,  specially important when we go to StrongStart and our weekly toddler classes.  This is a great jacket that can be used in the rain and cold and will keep my toddler warm and dry. Perfect for the rainy winters we tend to experience here. It’s also reasonably light and not too bulky which helps make it comfortable.

One really cool feature of this jacket is that there is a special set of stitching inside the arms that if cut will allow the arms to extend by an inch or so. This is specifically designed so that the jacket can adapt in size to your rapidly growing child in an effort to get a longer term of use out of it. I wish more children’s clothing worked like this!

The North Face KidsThe North Face always manage to balance technical functionality with modern and clean style. The entire kids line is no exception to this. It is a stylish jacket and our son looks like he is ready to hit the bunny slopes when he wears it. Very cute to see him looking like a mini snowboarder/skier ready for action.

We also had a chance to pick out a Boy’s Baselayer tee. The double-knit merino wool fabric of the long sleeve tee naturally wicks away the moisture from the skin and keeps children dry and warm.  I like that this will keep my son warm and that the tee could be also used as pyjamas when the weather gets chillier.

The Boy’s Baselayer tee features a crew neck and ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) 50. We got the XXS Boy’s size on this tee and I am sure that it will last a very long time.

I had a great time visiting The North Face store and getting to know their selection of products for little ones. I definitively recommend you check out their kid’s collection next time you stop by their store. Also, be sure to visit their website to learn more about their products and their kid’s collection.
