Our almost-3 year old is a GREAT sleeper. Once zonked for the night, it takes a Mardi Gras parade to wake her.  It’s getting her to sleep in the first place that has always been the challenge.  Since she was born, I have held and rocked her to sleep each night, a ritual I cherish,  but my husband and I agree it’s time  she starts learning how to sleep more independently.  Recently, we tried using one of those stuffed creatures (who shall remain nameless) that shines lights on the ceiling. These may work great for other children but instead of it lulling her to sleep, we heard LOTS of button clicking through her bedroom door as she was circling through the menu of light colors.

Just when we were ready to write off light-up bedtime creatures altogether, we received this Twinkling Firefly Frog to test.  What we noticed immediately is that the cricket chirps and the slowly twinkling lights make you reeeeeeaaaaaallllyyyyy sleepy.  Within minutes of watching the lights twinkle to the soothing song and cricket chirps, our daughter’s eyes glazed over and she was fast asleep.  Instant success.  Between you and me, I wouldn’t mind having the frog chirp and twinkle next to MY bed to lull me to sleep, too.

So what makes the Twinkling Firefly Frog different from the other light-up bedtime creatures on the market?  A biggie is that it is entirely cuddly like a stuffed animal – no hard plastic pieces or clicking buttons – so you can actually fall asleep holding it.  And secondly, the twinkling lights inside give off a soft glow, unlike competing products that have blindingly bright LED bulbs that shouldn’t be looked at directly.

The Firefly Frog features:

  • A soft light twinkling in the belly
  • Two soothing tunes including night cricket sounds
  • Automatic stop button
  • A history booklet
  • A certificate of adoption

The MSRP is $39.99 and the Twinkling Firefly Frog is available now in independent toy, gift and baby stores across Canada.  Website: www.cloudb.com/canada
