We received a Maplelea Girls Doll a few weeks ago, after having the opportunity to select one from their website to review. It was no easy task selecting from the different dolls. There are 6 main Maplelea Girls, and then there are a dozen Maplelea Friends. We decided to try and find a doll that looked similar to our daughter, but also shared some of our heritage. Jenna was the doll for us.

We weren’t exactly sure what to expect, and when Jenna arrived the packaging was much larger than we expected, and the doll herself was bigger than I anticipated. The Mapelea dolls are about 18 inches toll. Our daughter was so excited to see a doll that was much bigger than the baby doll she has. She was taken to it right away bringing the doll all over the house with her.

Mapelea dolls are very realistic in appearance, with eyes that even open and close. The doll also has a soft body, with poseable arms and legs. The hair is done beautifully, and allows you to style it in different ways, and not have to worry about bald spots showing. Each doll comes with one outfit, but there are many more outfit and accessory options online. For Jenna the one outfit I hope to add to our dolls wardrobe is the Anne of Green Gables costume. As soon as we decided to order Jenna I pictured the character of Anne in my mind, so I was thrilled to find out that Maplelea had a costume specifically made for Jenna to go with this character. Jenna is the perfect Anne with her red hair, green eyes, and freckles across her face.

Jenna has made it through many dance sessions, hugs, being pulled by her hair around the room, and much more. These dolls are of premium quality, and you can tell. What we really appreciate about the Maplelea Doll is how much it encourages imaginative play. Along with the doll came a journal, which is in English and French, which you can work through as a family, and we are looking forward to doing this when our daughter gets older. The journal gives some hints as to Jenna’s heritage, and what she likes to do. It contains 32 pages with questions, prompts, and blank pages to fill in. This doll opens many opportunities for creative play. If you have an older child who is interested in their heritage, or wants a doll that looks similar to them, then a Maplelea Dolls provide a wonderful opportunity to do so.
