Playhouse Little Tikes

Summer is finally here and we are getting some beautiful warm and sunny days in Vancouver. My family and I are really enjoying the beginning of our favourite season of the year.

The brilliant sunshine and blue skies are always an invitation to go outside and play. We are fortunate to have a small but decent backyard that our son can use for play all summer long.

We have a small selection of outdoor toys that our son loves and they help keep him busy and active during the summer. Before I introduce you to his favourite outdoor toys I must also mention that he loves blowing bubbles, it’s one of his favourite things to do when we are outside and he enjoys both making them and popping them. You can purchase bubble solution quite inexpensively or you can make it yourself. Such a fun, easy activity that keep children entertained and happy while playing outside.

Blowing bubbles

Here are some of the outdoor backyard toys that we love and use all the time:

Playhouse: There are many variations available but usually they are all sturdy, colourful playhouses that are great for toddlers. My son loves to use it for lot’s of imaginary play like pretending to cook inside of it, hide and seek and sometimes (when we are fortunate) just to chill out in.

I find that the playhouse is also wonderful when we have playdates with other children because they can play in it together and they usually have a lot of fun.

Slide

Slide: Our son loves going down the slides at the parks and playgrounds we visit so I knew getting one for our back yard would be a hit.  I love that he burns lots of energy climbing it, sliding down and running back to climb again. He also likes to roll cars and balls down it too! It keeps him active while we are outside.

Water/sand table

Water/Sand Table: During the hotter days playing with the water/sand can be a nice option.  He happily splashes the water and I am sure that it feels a bit refreshing.  The built in umbrella helps shelter him from the sun rays as well. I love that he can also get creative and build castles and different structures with the sand . A water/sand table is a great summer toy for multiple children as well. Our son loves his so much that he started playing with it during the spring when temperatures weren’t even warm enough
