Even though I was born in a different country, I am officially a proud Canadian. This beautiful country is my home and I really love it here. I have been living in Canada for over fourteen years, my husband is Canadian and both of my babies were born in Canada.

One of the many things I love about living in Vancouver is how much time I get to spend outdoors with my family. There are many breathtaking national parks, beautiful mountains, lakes and beaches to explore, some within minutes of our front door!

beach

We live ten minutes away from Trout Lake Beach, a fresh water beach at the south end of Trout Lake, and we spend a lot of time there in the summer. This little beach is great for the kids to play in the sand and splash around the lake; we also go for walks and bike rides around the park, a great way to exercise for the entire family.

Granville Island is a favourite as well, and on many weekends during the summer we walk/bike from Science World to Granville Island, walk around the Granville Island fresh market, and get organic ingredients for lunch/dinner. It’s so fun to bike the seawall and spend time by the water.

squamish

Another one of the places we love to visit is Squamish, just an hour drive from Vancouver. The Britannia Mine Museum is a hit with the kids and the Sea to Sky Gondola is a must if you are in the area. It’s a very unique experience and you get to see some pretty spectacular views.

Whistler, a bit further away, is of course another favourite.

The mountains have always been very appealing to me and I love the stone walkways at the Whistler Village. There are so many cute shops there…

banff

I also lived in Calgary, Alberta for a few years and I have amazing memories from Banff and Lake Louise.  Just imagine completely spectacular scenery, waterfalls and beautiful terrain. The water in Lake Louise is also a unique turquoise colour that really takes your breath away.

Just recently as I was trying out some of the fragrances from the AirWick® Canadian Parks Series™ fragrance collection I was taken back to some of the fun trips I had with my family there. Their new fragrance range was inspired by the National Parks of Canada and reflect the scents of three parks: Jasper, Banff and Cape Breton Highlands. They all have very unique scents and I just love the light floral notes of the Jasper scent and the wild strawberries in the Banff scent.

There are so many more places we love and so many more we have to visit that it is hard to talk about them all! I just love that we live in a country where we can safely explore, go for hikes, walk around the beach and parks and enjoy the great outdoors.
