Thinking about planning a trip to Canggu, Bali? We would love to visit Indonesia one day but we are waiting for the boys to be a bit older to embark on that adventure. In the meantime, I love researching information and I’ve been finding out the must-dos when travelling to Canggu. Never too early to start planning!

Below I am sharing some of my finds so far.

Let’s start with its location. Canggu is a beautiful resort village on the south coast of the Indonesian island of Bali. Canggu is surrounded by terraced rice paddies and it is well-known for beaches like Canggu and Echo, great places to surf at. So if you like surfing, this is the place to visit.

Nearby there is Seminyak, a resort area with lots of high-end shops and restaurants, and just South of Seminyak, the town of Kuta is known for its nightlife. North of Canggu, you can find Tanah Lot, a stunning Hindu temple that sits offshore on a rocky outcrop.

Traveling to Canggu, Bali - What You Have to Check Out

  • Go Surfing at Canggu Beach

As I mentioned before, Canggu is one of the most popular places in Bali to surf. It is the perfect place to learn how to and to practice your skills if you are already a surfer. You can find places to take lessons and rent surfboards at the beach.

  • Stay at a Local Villa

Looking for a place to stay while visiting Canggu? You can search for the perfect Villa using Villa Finder. Pick a villa close to the beach if you are interested in surfing, or one close to Echo beach if you are going to enjoy the lively entertainment. You can easily book online, they have a fabulous team of Travel Consultants who will call you to understand your needs. Some of the questions they will ask are if the client is coming with kids, how old are the kids, if they need a pool fence or car seat, etc. Love how personalized and helpful it is! Whenever we go, we’ll be booking a villa that way.

  • Visit Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot is just 30 minutes from Canggu. Tanah Lot Temple is one of Bali’s most important landmarks, famed for its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops. An ancient Hindu shrine perched on top of an outcrop amidst constantly crashing waves. Stunning and a must place to visit if you are in the area already.

  • Stop by the Canggu Market

Whenever I travel to a new place I love visiting their traditional local market. Stop by the Canggu market and you can find fresh fruits from local farmers and other produce. Go in the morning to get everything fresh.

  • Enjoy the Beautiful Beaches

Be sure to visit the beaches around Canggu. Bata Bulong Beach, Echo Beach, Berawa Beach and more. They are all gorgeous beaches to see and enjoy. Canggu beach is the place to go for surfing. Echo beach is the place to go if you are looking for nice little cafes and restaurants, and the other beaches are perfect for a nice walk to watch the sunset. So many places to explore.
