You know that moment when your basil plant is thriving and you think, “If I make one more batch of pesto, I might turn into a pine nut?” That was me last night. The basil was bursting out, practically begging to be used, but I wanted to try something different.
Enter: this creamy garlic basil sauce.
I had all the basics on hand for a creamy sauce, but instead of heavy cream, I had milk, so I went for it with the milk, flour, garlic, a block of parmesan, and of course, loads of fresh basil.
I put together this simple white sauce and tossed it with hot pasta and chicken, and you guys, it turned out delicious!
Rich, garlicky, herby, and cozy without being too heavy. Even better? The kids devoured it without hesitation (and trust me, that’s saying something).
So I’m sharing the recipe here in case you’re looking for a fresh way to use up your basil, or want an easy weeknight dinner that feels like a win.
