NEW Playtex Diaper Genie Expressions

NEW Playtex Diaper Genie Expressions

When my eldest was born the Diaper Genie was all the rage. The environmentalist in me just couldn’t get my head around having a device that wrapped a diaper in a plastic bag, which makes the diaper even less biodegradable. I couldn’t fathom throwing out that many diapers and that much plastic.  Fast forward almost 8 years to a new city where not only are diapers compostable, but plastic bags are as well. Diapers go in our municipal green bin and are sent with all the compost material to an anerobic digester, which turns the material into green energy. So cool.

NEW Playtex Diaper Genie ExpressionsNow the idea of a Diaper Genie is much more intriguing to me. Our general process of doing a diaper change and carting the diaper to the kitchen to toss into our city compost bin isn’t exactly ideal. Diapers are indeed pretty rank and they can often be a real mess in the early days or during illnesses.

The Diaper Genie didn’t fit in with the aesthetic of how I wanted my kid’s rooms to look either. It’s fairly large and plastic and white. Not exactly the look I was going for when envisioning their bedrooms, given the colours and patterns and clean lines I always lean towards. Playtex now has a great solution to this concern. The new Diaper Genie Expressions is a new system where a fabric sleeve is used to cover the plastic disposal pail. What makes this system even more appealing is that the covers are fabric, which means they are easily washed, and very simply interchanged so that you can purchase more than one and change up the look.

The disposal system was incredibly easy to use, even for this newbie, and the odor-lock system really is as great as people say it is (trust me, I have the strongest sense of smell alive). There was no detectable smell coming from the unit even after a couple of days and many diapers. There are currently five different designer sleeves to choose from and I was amazed to find that three of them were a perfect match for my daughter’s room. Far more than I had expected! Two run in the pink family, two in the blue and one is a very neutral grey. The patterns were even exactly what I had used for her room and I thought the sleeve was a really cute touch that helped to detract from the large, stark white plastic pail hiding underneath. They are quite stretchy and very easy to get on and off. The unit itself was also very straightforward and easy to use. Just keep in mind that the fabric sleeves will only fit the new Expressions unit and can’t be used on older models of the Diaper Genie.

NEW Playtex Diaper Genie Expressions

The new Diaper Genie Expressions retails for $34.99 CAD and each designer fabric sleeve costs $12.99 CAD. They can be found at many major baby product retailers as well as online. If you are looking for a Diaper Genie or have been considering one but have hesitated because you aren’t keen on the look of them, the Expressions may be perfect for you.

I would love to try Playtex diaper genie expressions. I have only used garbage cans with lids and this would look so much better in the nursery. It would also make life easier having such a useful tool around diaper changing time. I also love to write reviews. 🙂

I would absolutely LOVE to try out the new Diaper genie and to have the chance to review it. I own the original Playtex Diaper Genie. I have had it for 5 years. It is broken but I still use it. I would love to update it and these patterns are SO fun! What a clever idea to come up with a great way to style up the Diaper Genie. Brilliant!

I’d love to try the new Diaper Genie because they’re so cute – I won’t have to try to hide it in a corner, I can actually have it out where it’s functional AND adorable.

It sounds weird but i love that you can customize how it looks and have it as an accesory to a room and not just a diaper pail. Hopefully its also good at getting rid of diaper odors too!

With baby number 5 on the way and squishing into our 3 bedroom home a diaper genie this time around is a necessity. Since the baby will spend the first 6 months to a year in our room it would amazing to have a discrete diaper pail in our room.

Would love to be a tester, I have 2 boys 2 and a half and 8 months old, both still in diapers. We have only been using garbage pans and it doesnt always keep the smell of diapers hidden. This would come in handy and I love that they added new covers to make it a little more stylish! Excellent idea!

We go through a lot of diapers in a day with 2 in them, so this would be great to try to see if it will reduce the smell in an old Genie we have!

Never used a diaper genie. I used exclusive cloth with my oldest so had no need. However even though my little guy is a bit older we are still in full diaper mode, I am using eco friendly disposables , no way am I hand washing cloth . Point being in need to keep the rank smells away , have had issues this summer esp with the heat , a diaper genie would have helped lol

It’s amazing how quickly things change and this sounds like it’s for the better! I have a 3 month old and we have the old model and I don’t even use it all the time because I hate how it looks in her nursery! I would love to try this one as the design looks smart and stylish!
