house

My preschooler has a great imagination. This makes toys that facilitate pretending, and make believe very welcome in this home. She was incredibly excited to see the bright coloured box for the Go! Go! Smart Friends – Busy Sounds Discovery Home arrive at our house from VTech. She was instantly drawn to it.

VTech’s Go! Go! Smart line of toys all encourage little ones to create their own adventures and stories through creative play. These toys are also great for promoting fine motor skills thanks to the figures being easy to hold in small hands, and there being lots of find motor features on the toys. For example there are wheels to spin, swings to push, and lots of doors to open and shut.

My daughter was drawn to the character, Miss Norah, that came with it and the dog. She noticed right away though that there was a road to the house but no vehicle. I would suggest that if you get this, and you have a child who likes vehicles too you may want to get one to go with it right away, the Cruise & Go Convertible is what I plan to get for my daughter.

Now, putting this together was… interesting. It took me a bit longer than any other item of this nature ever has. It could be though that I was running on very little sleep at the time. I would however love to see the instructions be printed in book form, not pamphlet. I also strongly recommend you find the page that tells you where to place the stickers first. Put the stickers on before you put the home together. Also, remove Norah from the elevator before putting it together. These steps will help you out immensely.

The house has several MagicPoint spots that Miss Norah activates. The house fills up with lights, sounds, music, and more. Children learn new songs, about letters, and also daily life activities that happen around the house. The Discovery Home is great for interactive play, allowing children to use their imagination. The big highlight of the house was that it had an elevator Miss Norah could go up and down on.

There is lots of opportunity to expand the creative play that occurs with this toy when you add additional characters, and play sets to it. VTech has done a great job of balancing electronic play with creative play. There is just the right touch of electronic items to this to allow the MagicPoints to happen that make it extra special. There is also an on-off switch on the Discovery House if you decide it is needed… we’ve all been there as parents. This house became an instant hit in our home. I know it is going to be well loved for a long time.
