We have been loving the warm, beautiful days in Vancouver lately. Summer is just ahead, and we are trying to spend as much time outdoors as possible. We like to go for long walks and hikes with the kids, watch them play soccer in the afternoons, jump on the trampoline, and just play in the backyard enjoying their childhood to the fullest.

The not so fun part of the spring and summer and outdoor time? Seasonal allergies! Both of our boys are allergic to pollen, and they can get hit with runny noses, congestion, and itchy, red, teary eyes whenever they spend lots of time outside in certain areas.

It is hard to know exactly when they’ll experience an allergic reaction and staying indoors and away from allergens isn’t a solution. So, I like being prepared for the unexpected.

During the allergy season, I always carry Children’s Benadryl Chewables in my purse. They are effective at relieving their symptoms, and they are chewable, so they are a great choice for us.  We also have a bottle of Children’s Benadryl Liquid in our first aid kit at home. It feels great to be equipped to deal with their allergies whenever they need it.

Exploring the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge and Park

I personally have been using Benadryl for many years, and I even remember my mom using it for me when I was a child myself. I am unfortunately very familiar with seasonal allergies as a sufferer myself, so I am grateful to know that Benadryl provides the symptom relief we all need.

Something I recommend keeping handy during the spring/summer months is a Benadryl Itch Spray. Somehow the boys always end up getting stung by bees or insects during the warmer months and having some immediate relief on hand is a game changer.

I keep our Itch Spray downstairs by the backyard, so I don’t have to run indoors to look for it when needed.  You can get it in either stick, cream or spray format.  I prefer the spray because I don’t have to touch the area and the topical antihistamine/analgesic provide fast, effective relief of itchiness and pain.

Enjoying Life Outdoors To The Fullest

Now, whether we are at the park, hiking a local mountain or in our own backyard, life doesn’t have to stop when allergies hit. We have two very active little boys who can enjoy all the beautiful things nature can provide without feeling like they need to hide from the allergens.
