There’s something incredibly special about traveling with three generations of family — and when the destination is Disneyland, that magic gets multiplied. We planned a multigenerational trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, and it was hands-down one of our favourite vacations to date.

We travelled with my in-laws, the kids’ grandparents, and it was heartwarming to see them share in the joy and wonder of Disneyland with our little ones. From riding classic attractions together to watching the kids’ faces light up during the parades, every moment felt like a memory in the making.

Why a Multigenerational Trip to Disneyland Is Pure Magic

Why Disneyland Works for All Ages

One of the biggest reasons I recommend Disneyland for a multigenerational trip is that Disney knows how to make everyone, from toddlers to grandparents, feel included and entertained. The rides, shows, character meet-and-greets, and immersive lands are designed with every age in mind.

Whether spinning on the teacups with the kids, strolling through Galaxy’s Edge with my Star Wars-loving father-in-law, or enjoying a slow ride through It’s a Small World with Grandma, there was truly something for everyone. Plus, having extra helping hands made everything easier, especially for bathroom breaks, snack runs, and stroller swaps.

Tips for Planning a Multigenerational Disneyland Trip

1. Book Accommodations Wisely
Look for a hotel that offers suites or adjoining rooms so everyone has their space, but you’re still close. Consider staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel for easy park access and early entry perks.

2. Go at Your Own Pace
Don’t feel pressured to do everything in one day. Plan for breaks at the hotel, midday meals together, and maybe split up occasionally so each group can do what they love.

3. Use Genie+ and Mobile Ordering
Genie+ saves so much time with Lightning Lane selections, which are especially helpful for minimizing long waits with kids or grandparents. Mobile ordering of meals means less time waiting in lines.

4. Pack Smart for All Ages
Make sure everyone is comfortable. That includes strollers for little ones, good walking shoes for the adults, and layers for unpredictable weather. Don’t forget meds, snacks, and water bottles!

5. Celebrate the Occasion
Let Disney know you’re celebrating! Grab a free celebration button at Guest Services for birthdays, first visits, or a multigenerational milestone. Cast Members love to make it extra special.
