The Gift of Reading: Kobo Arc Review {Mother’s Day Gift Idea!}

Kobo Arc

Many of us, including myself, can attribute our love of reading to our moms. Whether it was cuddling up with Peter Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, or another beloved story time companion, mom was always there.

Kobo is celebrating moms around the world for spending time reading with their kids. Check out their touching commercial below, it definitively brings back fond memories for me!

Are you thinking about giving mom the gift of reading this Mother’s Day? I had a chance to try out the Kobo Arc ebook reader and I think it would make an amazing Mother’s Day gift!

Kobo Arc

The Kobo Arc is a colour ebook reader that offers Internet browsing capabilities and downloadable apps. This tablet like device comes with a reading and a store app preloaded and you can download new books directly from the Kobo store.

The Kobo Arc also comes loaded with Google Play where you can download apps like Facebook, Skype, Netflix and more. You can also download the Kindle app to open books that have been purchased from stores other than Kobo, making it a very flexible device compared to other e-readers in the market.

Kobo Arc

The Kobo Arc is very sleek and comfortable to hold, with (4.7 in) width it fits easily in one hand. I really like the size of the screen and the modern look. The screen is also easy to read, even outdoors and the resolution is high with vivid and bright colors.

In terms of software, I really love the clean organized look of the Kobo Arc’s home-screen and the large square tiles (tapestries) that you can set up by “pinning” photos, books, videos and more in each to match your own likes. I love that you can fully personalize your home screen and discover new books, videos and info based on your likes via their Discover bar that is constantly suggesting new content.

Kobo Arc

Something else I appreciate about the Kobo is that their reading software incorporates social media features. You can post comments on the book you are reading and even see if any of your friends is reading the same book at the same time! All via Wi-Fi.

In general, the Kobo Arc is an easy to use, intuitive device that allows you to read your favourite books, surf the net and download apps. The Kobo Arc is much more than a simple e-reader and it would make a fabulous gift for mom! Be sure to put it on your wish list this Mother’s Day!

Buy it: $199.99 – For more information on the Kobo Arc and to purchase one visit www.kobo.com

    This is amazing. I look at the e-reader I have and about all I can do is download onto it. Sometimes that can be such a pain. Much easier if it connected to the internet to do it.
