I am a total tech geek, and I love trying out new gadgets. My friends know that I am often the first one to try out new technology, including phones, cameras, watches, etc. Yes, I don’t spend my money on expensive shoes and clothing. Instead, I save my money for new gadgets.
As you can expect, our boys are also into gadgets and getting a cool, smart watch, and an action camera is very exciting when you are growing up in a home surrounded by technology. My 6-year-old son has been wearing a watch daily for a while, and he was super excited to upgrade his watch to the brand new Kidizoom® Smartwatch DX2 by VTech®. He also loves taking photos and videos and often borrows my iPhone to do so, so having his video camera to record videos and take photos with has been great.
Kidizoom® Smartwatch DX2 by VTech®: The Kidizoom® Smartwatch DX2 by VTech® lets little ones take pictures, videos, play games, tell time and more! Featuring a new sleek and stylish design, this durable smartwatch includes 55 digital and analog customizable watch faces to help kids learn to tell time. This smartwatch features two cameras that allow your child to capture everything from action video to selfies that can be customized in the Silly Me app and made into new watch faces. Includes an assortment of new games including Monster Detector, which uses the camera and augmented reality to help kids find and capture monsters in the real world. Kids can also use the watch’s motion sensor for active play challenges or to track steps. Using the included Micro-USB cable, you can upload photos and videos as well as recharge the battery using your computer.
I love that this watch has a parental control area where you can set up allowed play time, etc. We set it up to 15 minutes a day, and he knows that’s all the time he is allowed to spend playing the games.

Use the included accessories to mount the camera to your bike, skateboard and more while taking great action shots anytime, anywhere. If you are looking for a durable camera for your child, filled with cool features and even games, look no further. Kids can take up to 600 photos and record up to 6 minutes of video using internal memory, for extra recording time and photo storage you can purchase a microSD card. We use it with just the internal memory and have not needed any extra storage. We do back ups of his favourite photos on my computer regularly, and he also deletes photos and videos he doesn’t want to save.

Both of these devices are safe and fun for kids. These two devices don’t give kids access to the internet, so there is no worry about exposure to unsafe websites. Instead, they allow kids to get creative, record and take photos, play and learn about time. My 6-year-old loves his new tech, and he is happy to have a cool smart-watch with a touch screen like mommy’s and a camera he can use underwater or when riding his bike.
