When was the last time you organized your Tupperware/food container storage drawer? I had meant to organize ours and create a system for it since we moved into this house, and alas, I forgot to deal with it, and this drawer has been a total mess for a long time.
If you can relate and your drawer looks like ours did, then keep on reading. I have some simple tips to help you organize it and keep it organized.
My messy drawer when I began:
Not a pretty sight, and it used to take us FOREVER to find the matching lids when getting containers out. The worse!
How to Organize Your Tupperware Drawer – Easy Tips
The first step is to get everything out onto a counter. During this step, try to match all the lids with their containers to ensure you have all the lids. Somehow two of our lids disappeared, and we didn’t have matching lids for some containers, so we had to get rid of them.
Next, find two small baskets or one medium size basket. These will be used to store all of your lids. I had some leftover baskets from another organization project, so I made these work. I found them at our local Real Canadian Superstore a while back.
Once everything is out, clean your drawer, I vacuumed and wiped all the dust before storing things back inside again.
On the counter, start sorting your containers by brand/shape, and stack all matching shapes on top of each other (larger at the bottom).
Now, fill your drawer with the stacks of containers, and keep all the lids inside the baskets. Sort the lids by shape/size as well.
You are done! Next time you need a food storage container, you’ll have easy access to all of the lids, and you’ll be able to clearly see them and find them quickly to match your container.
If you end up organizing yours, let me know how it goes! Good luck! xo

What a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the tips! Our container drawer can definitely use some organizing.
In my current house I only have one lower small cupboard and some (not all) of my pots go there. My containers have ended in in multiple overhead cupboard shelves and it’s horrible. There will not be a kitchen reno as we cannot gain space in this house so until we move the best way we’ve found to deal with it was to keep the most used containers most accessible and to keep their lids on when stored (not the best use of space but nothing gets lost), and just find a spot for the rest. Anything over the fridge only gets touched when a taller person can help me because even with a ladder, I’m too short to get there!
Wow, I didn’t know there was an easy way to organize your plastic containers. Thanks for sharing.
I have to get on this. I have an entire cabinet full of tupperware and containers.
Great tips on organizing these items. I recently moved and had the chore of doing this.
