Ooma Telo: Free Home Phone Service {Giveaway – $229 value}

The Ooma Telo is a revolutionary device that delivers home phone service for free. By connecting to the Internet and using your existing phone you can enjoy HD quality phone conversations.

What’s great about their service is that you can have all of the standard features like calling ID, call-waiting, voice-mail, 911 service, free nationwide calling and many more without having to pay a month fee.   In fact, all you have to pay are the applicable taxes in your area (about $3.98 per month in most locations).

We received the Ooma Telo Device and WiFi Adapter (for a wireless experience) and I have really enjoyed trying out their system.  The voice quality is outstanding and the savings are amazing. As any other family we appreciate when we are able to cut down cost and reduce the expense of a monthly bill. We were paying $40 a month for our old phone line and it was canceled right away.   That is more than $400 saved for the year.

I really like that the Ooma Telo allows you to keep your old phone (physical unit) and your old phone number.   You can transfer the number if you wish or start with a brand new number. We decided to change our number as not many people have our home number so it was easy to start fresh.

The actual Ooma Telo unit is so modern and slick! I just love the design.  I like that with a simple touch I can check my voice-mail, delete messages and see the line being used.  I also like that after setting up your account online you have a dashboard with your phone’s information and you can check your voice-mail online. I set it up so I can receive and e-mail with the MP3 attachment of the messages so I can play them whenever I am.  So useful when you travel!

The dashboard also allows you to see the history of received and dialed numbers and it is all organized in a central database. I love having the logs and being able to see the numbers and times all in one place. I didn’t have any of that with my old phone line.

The Ooma Telo Wireless Adapter  we received (sold separately) makes it easy to move the unit anywhere in the house.  All you need is your computer to set it up with your WiFi network and after that you are good to go. We use the Wireless because I love not having to worry about cables running everywhere with a little toddler around.  One less cable to worry about! I also love the freedom of being able to use it anywhere. I can even take it with me when traveling and use it to place calls if I find a WiFi network.

The activation and set-up process were very easy to follow. You get a booklet with step by step instructions with your unit and you also have access to online and phone support if you run into any issue.  I was having issues connecting the Wireless Adapter because of my security settings at home. After a quick phone call and speaking with their friendly customer service rep I got it all set up and working.

We are really happy with our new phone service and very excited to not have the extra monthly expenses to deal with.  If you are looking to save money and get rid of an expensive monthly phone bill then I suggest you visit Ooma Telo and check out their devices.  I also recommend the WiFi unit if you have little ones, it is just easier to be able to move the unit around the house to a safe and convenient location.

Buy it: Do you want to purchase an Ooma Telo unit and the WiFi adapter? In the US you can purchase your devices directly from their website or at more than 4,000 retail locations, including Best Buy, Costco and Sears.  In Canada, Ooma will be initially sold at Amazon.ca, London Drugs and Costco.ca.

Win it: One very lucky reader from US/CAN will receive their very Ooma Telo Unit (a $229 value).  Winner will be responsible for payment of their monthly fee. This is usually the very small fee for  taxes (approximately $3.98 per month). Enter via Rafflecopter below.

    I would love to win since our phone bill is $45/month plus long distance. That’s over $500 per year. AND, since we live out in the country, there is no competition, so one choice is our only choice….hence they can tack on a rural service surcharge and there’s nothing I can do about it but pay the bill.
