FASTEN girls by pool

I love warm weather. I sometimes think I need to move somewhere south so that I could ditch the socks and jackets forever! In the summer and when we are on vacation I want to be outdoors as much as possible. I really love the water. I can spend an entire day sitting at the beach or at the pool, going for a dip when it’s time to cool off, over and over, all day long. What I don’t love is trying to peel a wet bathing suit off my shoulders and body over and over again to use the restroom, and I am sure this sentiment is echoed by younger girls and adults alike. It really is a pain.

The ladies behind the company Fasten had the same complaint from their young girls and decided there had to be a better way. Fasten bathing suits are made from UPF 50+ material and have an ingenious patent pending design that allows the suit to pop open at the waist line via magnets and snaps. Having the ability to just pop the bottoms open to use the restroom and then snap them back on could save some serious acrobatics in the ladies room. I really appreciate that this product is also made in the USA, which can be harder to find in children’s swimwear.

We took our new Fasten suit for a test drive during the little muchkin’s swim lessons and I can tell you, it is even more useful for babies. I am going to let you in on a little secret: swim diapers are mostly useless. They are poop catchers. That’s it. Whether or not you use a disposable or a reusable swim diaper, it will be soaked and weigh 20 lbs within seconds. That means if you are at the beach or pool and spending more than 30 minutes outdoors, you will need to change said swim diaper multiple times. While some bathing suits have zippers, wet bathing suits are a hassle no matter how you cut it. The Fasten suit was like a dream. Lay baby on her back. Pop suit open. Change diaper. Snap suit up. Maybe a grand total of 90 seconds at best.

There are snaps on each side to ensure the suit doesn’t come off completely once the magnets pop open, I found that as I lifted her into the air during some of the songs that the magnets came apart, yet snapped right back into place when I brought her back into the water. I think sizing is critical for this design and Fasten has a handy sizing chart available to ensure you order the correct one. Washing/care is exactly like any other bathing suit. Wash by hand in cold water and hang to dry. Which means that I wash on delicate in the machine and hang and mine didn’t look any worse for wear. I would also recommend a delicate’s bag if you are going to use the machine to ensure the magnets don’t adhere to the interior of the washer.

The Fasten swim suits are available in sizes 6 months to kids 5 and retail for $50.00 USD. You can also purchase a variety of amazing coordinating cover-ups and wide brimmed sun hats as well. If you have a pool or spend a ton of time at them in the summer, your little girls will love this suit.
