Kidizoom® Action Cam by VTech® {Review}

vtech camera

Our four-year-old recently received a Kidizoom® Action Cam by VTech® to try out. He has a kid’s camera that he loves but it is very simple, it is also big and heavy so it’s hard for him to carry anywhere. Enter the new Kidizoom® Action Cam, this tiny camera is super portable comes with a ton of cool features and takes awesome videos and photos.

Designed for children four-years and up the Kidizoom® Action Cam is the perfect tool to allow little ones to capture their fun adventures with cool videos and action shots. The camera is durable and made to survive drops and tumbles and it comes with unique mounts and accessories to attach it to a bike, scooter, skateboard, helmet and more. It also comes with a waterproof case that allows them to take videos and photos up to 6′ underwater. This camera is the GoPro for children!

The cam features a 1.4″ colour LCD screen and easy to navigate menus. The large icons are easy to see and perfect for children who can’t read yet. Children can set up their own fun effects, frames and photo filters and even create stop-motion videos and time-lapse photo sets. There are also a couple of games that can be played on the screen. The camera has four basic buttons on the side of the screen to access all the menus, I found that I didn’t even have to explain much to my four-year-old and he figured out how to use them right away.

Some of the camera’s main features are:

  • Photo/video capture
  • Photo frame and stamps
  • Built-in games
  • PC connection
  • Rechargeable Li-ion Polymer battery (Approximate continuous photo taking and recording timeis 2.5 hours)
  • Waterproof case
  • 1.4” Colour LCD Screen (128 x 128 dots)
  • 2.24”H x 2.24”W x 0.9”D
  • Expandable Memory (up to 32 GB with Micro-SD card – not included

I really like that the camera has a rechargeable battery. After unboxing it was super easy to set it up, the USB cable (included) connects the camera to a PC/laptop for charging and that same connection allows the download of videos/photos to the computer.

I have been very impressed with the camera’s quality and the photos/videos my son has been able to record. He has a scooter and we attached the camera to it to film some of his adventures. He was very excited to see the video after we came back home.

We haven’t taken any underwater photos or videos yet but we can’t wait for the summer to take it to the beach/pool. I am sure our son will get some cool underwater videos/photos with it.

Our son loves his new Kidizoom® Action Cam, he carries it in his pocket all the time and I love that it allows him to get creative. I enjoy downloading his photos and seeing what caught his eye and what he decided to tape or photograph.

This camera would make a fantastic birthday present for pre-schoolers and up. Highly recommend it, it is lots of fun, easy to hold for little hands and very durable.

  • MSRP: $69.99
  • Camera will be available in Canada around May-July at: WALMART, TOYS “R” US, AMAZON.CA and MASTERMIND TOYS.  For more information, please visit: http://www.vtechkids.ca

This sounds like a very impressive ‘toy’ for children. Can’t see any photos but will try a different browser, that might work 🙂

What browser didn’t let you see the photos? I can see photos in all the browsers right now 🙂

Opera, started doing this a short while ago – hopefully my son can do something about it when he returns from Australia in 10 days

Science is wonderful. I know my great grands, young as they are, want to take pictures but I hesitate to give them my expensive camera.
Now we have thid Kidizoom Action Cam by Vtech and they will be lining up to have fun and snap away.
I am so happy that these cameras are available. Children are curious and these cameras will help them explore their world.
Thank you for telling us about this Kid friendly Camera.
