Most of us with a baby or toddler have seen the single serving food pouches at the grocery store. My baby loves them. And I mean loves. She would eat two a day if I allowed her to. These days there are some pretty decent options available that include veggies and grains such as quinoa. I love the idea of them. I do not love the price of them. They are expensive. Really, really expensive. I also cringe every time I toss one in the garbage as they are not recyclable.

The Original Squeeze Company has come up with a perfect solution with their reusable food pouch. The Squeeze with Eeeze version of their pouch (there is also an original version for ages 6 months and up) is geared two ages 2 and up and includes a free flowing spout (the original version has a spill-proof nipple designed for new eaters). Free of BPA, Phalates and PVC (the pouch is 100% silicon) and available in 2, 4 or 6 oz options, the Squeeze with Eeeze is ideal for on the go snacks. Another huge plus is that the parts are easy to assemble and disassemble and are top-rack dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended.

I made the kids a smoothie and took the Squeeze with Eeeze for a test drive. The company also has a handy funnel that can be purchased separately that fits perfectly into the pouch. This makes filling the pouch 100 times easier.  The baby was able to partake in her smoothie without it getting all over the place, which is exactly what would have happened with a cup and straw. She did swing it around and got some on the floor, but this version of the product is clearly geared for ages 2 and up so I let that one pass. I found that the cap/lid has to be placed just so, but when you do it correctly it snaps on very easily. But if it’s not lined up it doesn’t attach at all. I think after getting used to it this wouldn’t be an issue, but I was annoyed that I couldn’t get it on at first.

I think having this available for apple sauces, fruit and veggie blends and smoothies will probably save us hundreds of dollars a year. I can even see my big kid (almost seven) using this for smoothies in the car if we are running out of the house and he already has a bottle of water with him and he doesn’t want to carry along two of them. I don’t own too many feeding products that can I use for both my one year old and seven year old, that’s for sure.

The Squeeze with Eeeze retails for $14.99 (USD)  (4oz) and the funnel for $5.99 (USD) and are available online and at many retailers across North America. The Original Squeeze Company has a huge list of recipes online, which can be very helpful for those who aren’t sure exactly what to put inside their pouch. Whether you have a baby who is learning to eat or a big kid who takes a packed lunch to school, the Original Squeeze has a product for you.
