I find green smoothies are a super quick and easy way to get large amounts of fruits and leafy greens into my family’s diet. My toddler loves his morning smoothies and I love that they are tasty and filled with good-for-you ingredients!
Here are my secrets for creating the best green smoothies for your family. Children LOVE these and they are super easy to make.
The best green smoothie ratio:
- 2 cups leafy greens: spinach, kale, swiss chard, romaine, etc.
- 2 cups liquid base: water, almond milk, coconut milk ( we always use almond milk)
- 3 cups of ripe fruit: bananas, peach, apple, pineapple, avocado, berries, grapes.
- (Tip: use at least one frozen fruit to chill the smoothie, I keep frozen bananas in my freezer and use one a day for our morning smoothie. Bananas also add creaminess to the smoothie – peel them before storing)
Steps:
Add the liquid base to the blender, then the fruits and top it with the greens. Blend well and serve!
You can also boost your green smoothie with a super-food. We love using chia seeds, hemp seeds or even almond butter!
What I love the most about green smoothies is that the sweetness of the fruit blends makes them taste delicious, you don’t really taste the greens.
Are you a green smoothie fan? What’s your favorite recipe?
