Disney Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates – Mighty Colossus {Review}

Both of our boys are big Jake and the Never Land Pirates fans. At home our PVR is filled with episodes of the show and they know the opening song by heart, now imagine their excitement when we received the Fisher-Price Disney Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates – Mighty Colossus toy to review.

The rolling ship comes completely disassembled and there are lots and lots of plastic pieces to snap together. The box contains all the plastic pieces, two characters (Jake and Lord Fathom), instructions and stickers.

I built the ship following the illustrated instructions with my very anxious little helpers, and it took us about 15-20 minutes to put together. If you are purchasing this toy as a gift for the holidays I highly recommend you assemble it completely before wrapping it up as the kids would be too excited and wanting to play with it right away to wait patiently for you to build it.

After the ship was built both boys, ages two and five, were delighted to play with it. They spent the next hour taking turns playing with the ship, pushing it around our living room and playing nicely together. Nothing makes me happier than finding a toy that they both love and play together with.

The ship is very large and it definitely has a wow factor once you have put it together. The boys love the fact that they can close and open the ship doors and that it has wheels to roll on, they also really like all of the levels in the ship, the steering wheel, hidden treasure, the small prison, coconuts catapult, double-cannon and flip-down rope ladder to go below deck. Lots to do!

I love how the ship helps spark my five-year-old’s imagination as he plays with Jake running all over the ship and acting out fun stories. This is a great toy for kids wanting to create their own fun adventures as well.

If you are looking for a fun holiday gift idea then I definitively recommend the Disney Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates – Mighty Colossus. At just $40US (get it for $19.99 right now on Amazon!) this is an impressive play-set that will give little ones hours and hours of creative play!

    You can see that the boys are having fun with this. I gave my grandson a big pirate ship too and he loved it, mind it was difficult packing it in a suitcase to take to Australia 🙂
