5 Tips To Help You Survive This Cold & Flu Season {$150 Gift Basket Giveaway}

Tips to Survive Cold & Flu Season

Below you will find a couple of simple tips I put together to help you survive the cold and flu season this year. And as always, remember that prevention is the way to go!

1. Practice Frequent Hand Washing: Wash your hands multiple times a day with regular soap and lots of water. Washing your hands and your kid’s hands frequently throughout the day is the best way to limit exposure to germs, potential colds and the flu.

2. Eat a Healthy Diet:  Eating a healthy and balanced diet is the key to maintaining your immune system so it’s working and ready to fight off infections. Eat dark leafy greens and lots of Vitamin C filled fruits and vegetables. Healthy eating makes a big difference.

3. Get Enough Sleep Every Night: Lack of sleep is known for decreasing immune function and leaving you susceptible to catching viruses.  If your child sleeps through the night then make sure you go to bed at a reasonable time to get at least 8 hours of sleep. Your body needs the down time to get ready to fight infections.

4. Daily Exercise: Regular exercise helps boost your immune system. Schedule at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day. It can be as simple as putting your child in a stroller or carrier and going for a walk together. Fresh air is also fantastic for your health!

5. Get the Flu Shot: Get vaccinated. Did you know you can get your vaccination at your local Shoppers Drug Mart? We already got ours in October, and it took us only 10-15 minutes, with no appointment required.

Remember it is all about eating well, frequent hand washing,  getting enough rest, staying fit and boosting your immune system! Hope you stay healthy this season!

I wash my hands. I try to eat well -lots of fruits and drink plenty of fluids. Some years I remember to get a flu shot (oops not this year). Eating lots and lots of garlic tends to make people back away so you are less likely to catch something (just kidding but it would work well). Vitamins and vitamin C supplements are helpful too.

I get a flu shot every fall. I try to eat healthy most of the time. I love fruits and vegetables so we try to have two or more veggies at dinner. Enough rest and sleep is important. I think exercise and stretching are very important, especially as we get older. Meditation is important as well to relieve stress. I find reading and hobbies are necessary to one’s well being. Having a caring family and friends helps to make life worth living. Doing things for others and caring for the unfortunate is important for a healthy life as well.

To avoid catching the flu I take extra vitamin c, get as much sunlight as possible, drink lots of water, get as much “good” sleep as I can, add garlic to most of my meals, and most importantly I try to avoid going places where there might be lots of sick people etc
Thanks for the opportunity! Good luck everyone!

I wash and cut up fresh lemons and freeze them. They say frozen lemons fight cancer? I will take out about 2 lemons put in a bowl of boiled water let cool then puree them put threw a sieve and add the rest of the water and a batch of honey. I keep a jug of this in the fridge and drink daily. It is like lemon aid but with a sharp taste because you have the oils from the skin. It also cleans your liver.

I try to protect myself by doing these things on a daily basis:
Clean my space….vacuum daily. Clean carpets….don’t let it go too long.
Wash all my dishes (and use paper plates and cups when possible) by HAND.
I heat the rinse water to near boiling……….
Careful about what I am touching and make sure I wash my hands.
Don’t touch alot of cloth items. I do laundry more frequently.
I go out for a cup of coffee; but I don’t sit down inside where I know (can see) people hanging around at the tables. I get coffee to go……..on purpose.I drink alot of water……take vitamins.
